About us

Saga Shipholding (Norway), is a ship owning company located in Tønsberg, Norway.

We have a modern fleet of 33 box-shaped open-hatch vessels which ensures a high level of flexibility and safety for your cargo.

The vessels represent one of the newest and most sophisticated fleets of forest product carriers in the world today. Each vessel is fitted with two specialised gantry cranes of 40 MT lifting capacity, which in turn provide high-capacity and speed for loading and discharging of unitised cargo.

The vessels are on full technical management with Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Ltd., Hong Kong, who are also responsible for manning the vessel with highly qualified crew from India and the Philippines.

Saga Shipholding (Norway) is a subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Japan, and was established in Tønsberg, Norway in 2005.

The roots, however, go back to 1991 when NYK, Aaby and Borgestad established a pool cooperation named Saga Forest Carriers, with open hatch gantry craned vessels.

In October 2014, Masterbulk Pte Ltd and Saga Shipholding (Norway) established a new pool venture, Saga Welco. All our vessels are trading in the Saga Welco Pool.
